Bodega is happy to present Pressure Head, an exhibition of five paintings by Orion Martin. These new works address ongoing concerns in Martin’s practice such as interiority vs. exteriority, temporal and biological evolution, the co-existence of volumetric and diagrammatic rendering, and the inherent theatricality of inventive painting. A textual companion to the exhibition, a short story written by Naoki Sutter-Shudo based on a plot by Martin, is available at the gallery and online.

Orion Martin (b. 1988) lives and works in Los Angeles. Recent solo exhibitions include High Art, Paris; Corbett vs Dempsey, Chicago; Bodega, New York. Recent group exhibitions include W Art Foundation, Qingdao; Bel Ami, Los Angeles; Tanya Leighton, Berlin; and The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Artforum, Frieze, The New Yorker, and Art in America, among others, and is included in the public collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art and The Institute of Contemporary Art Miami. This is Orion Martin’s third exhibition at the gallery.
